Born Free

Born Free. Taxed to Death.
We enter this world with nothing but a birthday, a name, and the freedom to make something of ourselves.
Then the paperwork begins.
Earn some money, and it’s taxed. Spend what’s left, and it’s taxed again. Own a house, drive a car, fill the gas tank, or leave something to your children, and somebody somewhere has already designed a form and assigned it a due date.
They say the best things in life are free. That may be true, but the government hasn’t figured out how to tax sunsets, naps, and complaining. Yet.
I don’t object to paying my fair share. I’d just like somebody to explain how my share became so popular with everyone else.
So keep your receipts, save your records, and never throw away anything marked “Important Tax Document.”
You were born free.
After that, apparently, there’s a fee.
