About Beaver Lake Books

Some businesses start with a business plan. Mine started with a move. I’ve had enough of business plans.

About five years ago, my wife Anita and I packed up and headed to the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, specifically to a little corner of the world near Beaver Lake, tucked along the White River east of Bentonville. If you’ve never seen it, it’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and look around. Quiet mornings. Good fishing. The kind of scenery that makes you wonder why you waited so long.

It didn’t take long before I needed something to do.

That’s just how I’m wired. I spent most of my working life in broadcasting, started as a DJ back in college, eventually built up a small group of four radio stations. Along the way, I owned a weekly newspaper too. Words, stories, and connecting with an audience have always been at the center of what I do. Retirement, it turns out, didn’t change that.

So I started writing and publishing books. Not grand literary epics, practical, enjoyable, everyday books. The kind that make a great gift, pass a quiet afternoon, or give your brain a satisfying little workout. Joke books for grandpas. Large-print word searches. Coloring books for adults. Journals and planners. Clean romance stories you can share with anyone. Things I’d actually want to read, and things the people around me seemed to enjoy too.

And speaking of the people around me, Beaver Lake Books has grown into something of a small creative family. Anita Elliott, my wife, brings her background as a musician and music teacher to journals and music books that are genuinely useful for educators and students. Bob Madigan, a former English teacher with a lifelong love of wordplay, creates clever, satisfying word search books for all ages. A.K. Moore writes heartfelt clean romance stories rooted in faith, small towns, and second chances. And Harper Sage designs coloring books, from calming mandalas to playful themes, that help people slow down and have a little fun. You can meet all of them on our Authors page.

That’s the honest origin of Beaver Lake Books. One person, one lake, a lifelong love of words, a great creative team, and a stubborn refusal to just sit still.

Every book in our catalog is published under the Beaver Lake Books name and available on Amazon. I take care to make sure each one is well-crafted, easy to use, and genuinely enjoyable. No filler, no fluff, just good, clean reading.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you find something here that makes you smile, think, or just helps you unwind for a little while., R.G. Elliott, Beaver Lake Books
